Every 9th Woman is at risk of Breast Cancer in Pakistan

Total Current Female population 108.4 million out of which Adult Women being 64.4% i.e. Approx 70 Million. As per WHO every 9th adult women are likely to develop breast cancer in Pakistan which makes 7.7 Million Adult women. Breast cancer claimed approx. 34,066 lives of adult Pakistani women in 2018 [WHO]. According to the WHO, the estimated numbers are to double by the Year 2040.

COMSTECH Best Research Paper in Biology Award: Dr. Hammad Naveed was awarded the Best Research Paper in Biology Award for 2019. COMSTECH, is the Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation). This award recognizes outstanding research paper published in an international journal in the last two years. The award is given in each of the four basic sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics). This biennial award carries a certificate, a shield of honor and a cash prize

Student Scholarships

Several students worked on the different phases of ‘AMAL’, most of these students secured admissions in the MS/PhD programs of leading universities in the world based on this work. Particular, one student was admitted to the MS Research program at the Department of Computer Science, University of Warwick which is ranked 2nd in the UK.

Hammad Naveed received his PhD in Bioinformatics from University of Illinois at Chicago (2012). He was a faculty member at University of Chicago from 2014-2017 and has 2 postdoc training in Bioinformatics. He has published around 35+ research papers in leading journals and conferences. His current interest is to convert research into products for the betterment of the society.
